Since its start in 1949, NASCAR has been the most popular motorsport in US. It has a history of more than 60 years now. Over the years, there were many legendary NASCAR drivers participated in the races and contributed to make the history of NASCAR racing. It was very hard to win a match. It is even harder to win a Championship. Whom do you think is the best driver ever? Below are some of the top drivers during the decades.

Richard Petty
Richard had 7 Championships and won 200 races of NASCAR Winston Cup Series. He is undoubted with the nickname "The King". He had a record of winning 10 racing in a row in 1967. Some people argued that he won in the "old" time when the stock cars were not so advanced as the modern ones. Still, he is the legend of the NASCAR history.

Dale Earnhardt
Dale had 7 Championships all in modern time. His nickname is "The Intimidator" and many regarded him as the best driver in NASCAR history. The only sad thing about him was that he crashed in a race and died during his heyday of the competition. If he were still here, I am sure he could get more wins and even 8 or more championships.

Jimmie Johnson
In Jimmie's NASCAR career, he has won the Sprint Cup championships for 3 consecutive years. He is the 2nd NASCAR driver of such achievement. Jimmie may have some more championships ahead his road. His famouse car was the #48 Lowe's/Kobalt Tools Chevrolet Impala operated by Hendrick Motorsports.

Jeff Gordon
Jeff is Jimmie Johnson's teammate. He is a 4-time winner of Sprint Cup championship(1995, 1997, 1998, 2001). He drives the #24 Chevrolet Impala. Jeff is the driver who first exceeded $100 Million in winning for the Cup series.

There are still many talented NASCAR drivers that I cannot cover them all. The list includes legends like David Pearson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. , Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Davey Allison, Robert "Junior" Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick, Cale Yarborough, Richard Petty, Tony Stewart, Bill Elliott.
